Misogynistic Japanese Virtual Hentai Sexual Assault Game

This morning I watched the news cast by Elliot Hill and Mark Sovel of Lip TV on a new misogynistic virtual Japanese game. I was not only offended by the game itself, but also by the continued lack of respect for women exhibited by the two male news anchors for the show.

The game itself puts the player in a virtual environment via Oculus Rift (of which is an amazing technology and that company has no association to this game) with a Japanese female character with very large breasts. Physically there exists a doll of similar stature in front of the player, while peering through the Oculus Rift 3-D goggles is able to see the reaction of the character as he squeezes the breasts of the physical doll in front of him. Upon being grabbed the virtual Japanese girl screams out and covers herself trying to protect herself from the unwarranted assault.

And when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, the player is a boy probably about 14 years old. So this game is teaching is being promoted to teach adolescent boys to assault women.

Now onto the reactions of the male newscasters Elliot Hill and Mark Sovel. First of all they jokingly make reference to the adolescent boy masturbating after playing the game, “then he goes and cracks one off afterwards” but makes sure to note that statement was unfounded. But the fact that they even think it is ok to disrespect  a child like that in the first place is completely unacceptable.

Moving beyond that they begin to belittle the female actor in the game. First they attempt to animalize the character by referring to her as a cat because of the way that she screams. Even worse, once again we observe men putting the blame on the victim because of what she ‘looks’ like,  “but look what she’s wearing, she’s asking for it, and she’s just sittin there.” Even though that kind of argument doesn’t even warrant a response the character in the virtual game is a school girl that is conservatively dressed.

To their credit they do call it what it is, that being a virtual gaming form of sexual assault, but after their display of misogynistic views of women their opinions don’t hold much weight.
